The CHIME Foundation

Advancing the Education of Healthcare CIOs and Providers of H.I.S. Products and Services

2009 Foundation Firm Benefits and Programs

The CHIME Foundation enables providers of healthcare IT/IS products and services to support the educational initiatives of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) organization, which represents over 1,000+ of the nation’s leading healthcare CIOs. The Foundation also serves to educate its member organizations, enabling them to better address the needs of CIOs and the healthcare industry.

The CHIME Foundation: Directly Linked to CIOs

The CHIME Foundation is a non-profit organization, closely linked to the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. Chaired by a CHIME Board member, a Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of additional CIO members and elected Foundation firm representatives. A Foundation Advisory Board is comprised of all member organizations. This body assembles twice a year to interact with the CHIME leaders in planning and reviewing activities of the Foundation and the CIO organization. Members of the Foundation, thus, have the opportunity to participate directly in the development of the strategy and activities of the leading organization serving healthcare CIOs.

Interaction with the CIO Membership

Foundation firms have opportunities to interact with CIO members in a variety of formats, including Forum focus groups, Online Focus Groups, College Live (web) presentations, speaking opportunities, and participation in CHIME events (networking receptions/exclusive sponsorships).

Key Survey Data: I.S.-Related Needs and Interests

Foundation firms may survey the entire CHIME membership (based on availabilities), and have access to the CHIME CIO database, the CHIME membership database, and the CHIME IT Warehouse.

Communication

Foundation member firms will have one primary contact person for CHIME, and an unlimited number of secondary “cc” contact representatives.

Foundation Firm Requirements

CHIME Foundation firm status is obtained through application to CHIME’s Board of Trustees. To become a Foundation firm, an organization must be involved in the healthcare information management field. To view the CHIME Foundation Membership Criteria, please visit: http://www.foundation-chime.org/joinfoundation/criteria.asp

Annual CHIME Foundation Membership Dues

The Member level is currently not available to firms seeking new membership. New Foundation memberships are currently available at the Associate Member level only. This level of membership is the gateway to the Premier Level of membership. As Premier Level memberships become available, as determined by the CHIME Foundation Board of Directors, Associate Members will be required to upgrade to the Premier Level.

$20,000 for Associate Member Level:

http://chime-foundation.org/joinfoundation/AssociateMemberBenefits.asp

NOTE: The CHIME Board of Trustees, at its October, 2003 meeting, approved an increase of 2005 dues to $30,000. Please note this is only the 2nd increase in dues since the Foundation was created in 1994 and it is not expected that dues will increase annually.

Following a recent extended input process by Foundation members, the Foundation Board of Directors responded to market demand and created a new level of Foundation membership in 2009: “Premier Member”.

The current level of membership will be retained as “Member” in 2009. Current Foundation members have the option of renewing at the Member or Premier level in 2009. However, firms pursuing first time Foundation membership in 2009 will only be admitted exclusively at the Premier level.

Please note: Firms who decide to join the CHIME Foundation may only participate in CIO Forums if 1) dues are completely paid, and 2) there are available openings for focus groups, event sponsorships, etc. Some programs are on a “first come, first served” basis.

Participation in the 2009 Spring Forum is limited to firms that have paid their dues in full by February 1, 2009.
